Race-Care: sport massage and mental coaching for riders

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

race care

Today sport massage in the motorsport is not only for SBK and MotoGP riders anymore. During our visit at Spa-Francorchamps we went to visit Race-Care, well known in the Netherlands.

Karin Visser: “Race-Care was born a long time ago. I go for many years to the races and I spook with so many riders and people. Over all the years I get more and more the feeling that the riders need some more support.

For example, a rider needs to return to the bike after the crash, mentally they are not always ready for it. It’s hard for them to say: “sorry, I don’t feel good on the bike for the moment” so, they need to talk with someone to recover mentally and return with a good feeling on the bike.

A good physical condition is for sure important but it starts all with the feeling “between the ears” of the rider. Riders needs to warm up their body and muscles before they step on the bike and before the race will start. Some riders come to me after the race and have a muscle problem. They can also wake up in the morning with it. They come here and I talk with them, I give them a massage. I can give them a good feeling; with a good massage and mental coaching.

It is an important step in the motorsport, not only your bike must be in good condition, the rider must be too. Mentally and physically. Riders will focus on bike and lap times; when their muscles are warm and their mind is focused, things will be done much better.”

Race-Care works on body and mind and is present at all the 3D Cup races. They help any rider, not only the Ducati rider. We want to bring this more and more in our sport.

Marijn Tieleman, 3D Cup: the winner takes it all?

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Marijn Tieleman

25 years old is the Dutch rider Marijn Tieleman and holds the first position in the Dutch 3D Cup until today. He likes his Ducati and performed with a good 1.45 at Assen very well. But not only at the Dutch Assen track, last race at Oschersleben was good for a 1.32,4.

DCF: Marijn, fast and faster, tell me how you do it? Is the bike or the experiences?
Yes, things are developing very well in the 3D Cup; actually we planned to race this season with the Ducati 1098R, but until today I did not ride the bike! I race with the second team bike, a standard Ducati 1098. So I am happy with the results and until today I still make progression with my lap times.
It started years ago when I lived in the US for some years, enjoying motocross and super cross. Good for 8 years, ended with some
injuries. I went with my uncle Eddy Tieleman, Jan and Jon Petersen to Brno to enjoy some races; I don’t have to tell you it was the first step to something new for me. Before I realised very well I made my first steps on track and yes, I really liked it from the first moments.

DCF: And you went to the 3D Cup, why?
The decision to ride 3D Cup was easy, my first goal was to learn, to have experience. Things went very well so I tried to taste the ONK with a 15th and 16th result at Assen. 2010 is the 4th year on track for me. I like the 3D Cup, because it holds all the time a good atmosphere, but to be honest, a new challenge with a fast rider is welcome for me in the Cup.

3D Cup: report from Davy Wens

podium-b-klasse

An other weekend, an other race.
Today we are leaving to Oscherleben. Six houres driving, but a really nice track.I think it’s my 5th year that I have the possibility to race there, but almost each time in rain. The weather conditions look really good now, so lets go!

After almost 8h driving with a few stops, we arrive at the track. The paddock for the 3D Cup wasn’t open yet, but there was a lot of place at the large paddock in the middle. Robin, 1 of the Belgian drivers already arrived, so we took place near them. We took the bike out of the car, placed our tent and we were ready for a nice racing weekend.

25/6/2010
Today, we have 6 free practices. It’s the first time I ride here with my 848 instead of my Twin. And no, I can not reach my time of the Twin!! It feels strange, the bike has more hp, but in the corners I lose time. But ok, it’s the first practice. The second one feels better, the third even more and than, the 4th practice I feel that I become one with my 848. If I keep working like that, I hope that I will have a good time on Saterday. 2 more practices to go. It was hot! Really hot, and at the end of the day, everyone was happy that is was over!
In the evening, the other Belgian rider, Yoeri, arrived also. We kept a place next to us for him, and now the “gang” is completed. The girls took care for preparing the food for the bbq and so we had a nice evening together, with Master Chef Frank who prepared the meat. Time to sleep, tomorrow we have the qualifications.
