Interview with Xavier Simeon, Ducati Xerox Junior Team rider
-Xavier, it’s was a close fight at the end of this 2008 season, how did it really go for you?
Yes, it was a big fight, we were 4 riders to get the title, but as you know I did a bad choice of tyre and I crashed in the seventh lap.
-You’ve ended with only 11 points after the winner, and you are 4th. Is it because you are all riding the same kind of bikes?
I was first in the championship before the race of Portimao, my mistake in the race show you than we were very close and at the end I managed only 4th.
-What is really the difference between a stockbike and a superbike? We can see that laptimes are sometimes equal? And it gives also close racing, fun for the visitors.
I think the difference its the electronics, we have some tracks where the electronics doesn’t help a lot the superbike and at this tracks we are closer, but at this level, when you are going fast, the last seconds its very very very difficult to find.
-What about your personal goal? Do you have a hero ?
I want to arrive at the top level in Superbike, I have a hero since i’m a child, it’s I think like a lot of people Valentino Rossi, but in therms of persons my prefered rider its Troy Corser.
-As a Belgian you are on toplevel, what’s next for 2009 or 2010?
In 2009 I will ride for the Ducati Xerox Junior Team in Superstock 1000, It’s the best team in this class at the moment, they are twice world champions in a row. The team is very profesional and very friendly, It’s a great opportunity for me to ride with Ducati!
